Setting Up Mac Mail to Connect to a Plesk or Zimbra mail account
- Start the Mail application.
- Access the mail configuration options:
- If you are starting the application for the first time, select “Add Other Mail Account…” in the prompt that appears.
- Otherwise:
- Go up to the top left toolbar and open the Mail dropdown menu.
- Click on Add Account.
- Select “Add Other Mail Account…” in the prompt that appears.
- Click continue.
- Enter the following:
- Full Name: enter your Full Name.
- Email Address: enter your email address.
- Password: enter your email password.
- Click on the Create button. A message saying “Account must be manually configured” will appear. Click Next.
- Configure the Incoming Mail Server Info:
- Select IMAP from the options next to Account Type.
- Enter The mail server name looks like: For Zimbra: Zimbraxxx.his.com, for Plesk: psaxxx.his.com as the Mail Server.
- Enter your HIS email address in the box next to User Name (as in username@his.com or username@domain.xxx).
- The Password field should already be populated with the password that you entered in step 4.
- For Path Prefix, please enter INBOX.
- Make sure you are using port 993 with SSL.
- Click on the Next button.
- Configure the Outgoing Mail Server Info:
- Enter The mail server name looks like: For Zimbra: Zimbraxxx.his.com, for Plesk: psaxxx.his.com as the Mail Server.
- Enter your email address as username in the box next to User Name.
- Enter your email password in the box next to Password.
- For the port number, use port 465 with SSL.
- Make sure the Authentication is set to Password.
- Click on the Create button.
- If everything was correct, you will automatically exit the new account creation process. Close and reopen Mail to begin receiving your messages.

- In order to use IMAP folders for the Mac email client, you will need to select the IMAP folders that Apple Mail will use.
