Enable SMTP Authentication for Mac Mail
MacOS10.3 Mail
- On the menu bar, click the Mail option and select "Preferences."
- Click the Accounts icon.
- Select your account from the menu on the left.
- At the bottom of the right window, click the "Server Settings" button.
- Change the Server Name to your HIS-Hosted server name, i.e. psaXXX.his.com, mail.his.com or zimbraXXX.his.com.
- Change the Server port to 587 or 465.
- Check the "Use SSL/TLS" box.
- Check the "Authentication None" box.
- Select "Password" from the dropdown list.
- In the "Username" field enter your email address
- In the "Password" field enter: Your email account password.
- Click "OK."
MacOS10.4 Mail
- From the Mail Mail menu, select Preferences.
- Select Accounts and choose your e-mail account.
- On the Account Information tab, locate Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) in the lower-half of the screen. Selected the server for your account, then click on Server Settings.
- Change the Server Name to your HIS-Hosted server name, i.e. psaXXX.his.com, mail.his.com or zimbraXXX.his.com.
- Change the Server port to 587 or 465.
- Check the "Use SSL/TLS" box.
- For Authentication, select Password.
- For User Name and Password enter your username and password.
- Click OK.
- Close the Mail Preferences window and Save your changes.
MacOS 10.9.2 Maverick
- From the Mail Mail menu, select Preferences.
- Select Accounts and choose your e-mail account.
- On the Account Information tab, locate Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) in the lower-half of the screen. Make sure mail.his.com is selected, then
- Click on it and select "Edit SMTP Servers list"
- Select mail.his.com
- Make sure the Server name is "mail.his.com"
- TLS Certificate=None
- Click on Advanced
- Change the Server Name to your HIS-Hosted server name, i.e. psaXXX.his.com, mail.his.com or zimbraXXX.his.com.
- Change the Server port to 587 or 465.
- Check the "Use SSL/TLS" box.
- For Authentication, select Password.
- For User Name and Password enter your whole email address and password.
- Click OK.
- Close the Mail Preferences window and Save your changes.
